TORAH

My Weekly Sidrah

I Can Learn Torah

Being Torah (3-5) - a 1-2 year course involving Torah study and commentary.  This is about the 4th year level. To mark progress, provide incentive, there will be a graph showing lessons completed (every 5th) - which should provide some sort of an idea whether or not we are on target.  Again, stickers will provide markers to indicate progress, while an overall badge will show completion of the course. 2-3 days a week. Mondays, Thursdays, possibly Friday as well. Being Torah is comprised of 3 books (Teachers Guide, Text, Student commentary) that was published by Torah Aura Productions and available from that publisher.

Experiencing the Torah (4-5)- teaches Torah through enacting scripts of age appropriate translation of the biblical text.  Texts are to be performed rather than read.  There are 23 texts that go from Adam and Eve to Death of Moses,  Performance may include not only acting out the scripts but also singing, dancing, creating art, self expression of the inner story of the text.

Torah Toons I (4-7) - highlights major plot lines of each of parashot.  Midrash is used to understand motivation of biblical characters. There is a summary,a focus on questions of character'sbehavior, as well as answers and midrashim.

Make a Midrash Out of Me - (5-7)  Torah text followed by bibliodrama in script form.  Narrative engaged

Parashah (6-7)  Weekly Torah portion taught - learn to read without vowels, underwstand text. Explore mitzvot found in parashot.

Toons II (6-8) - focus here is on Parashah study with commentators.  Students are partners in study.

HOLIDAYS (a review)

Goal is to complete a review book for each one showing history, customs, mention of songs, dvds, etc. about holiday, holiday foods as indicated by a "badge" on a poster board for that holiday.  Once all the holidays have been studied, conceivably a badge would be sewn on a sash for the Holiday course.

This year - review.   and as a review - the "Badges" can be colored in.  There are additional requirements to be met for each of the holidays.  Additionally each updated folder, once reviewed and updated, will have the pictures  of the individual lapbook removed from the page, in an effort to conserve space (and picture space!)

The "Badges" for each holiday (I'm behind on posting badges)
